Shaolin Presentation

Shaolin Presentation

Join Daniel for an afternoon Shaolin Experience.  Oct. 31, 2:30-5:00 pm.  Program schedule below.

Shaolin is a 1,500 year old culture originating in central-northeast China, near a city named Dengfeng in the Henan province.  Shaolin Kung fu and Qigong constitute one of the oldest known institutionalized martial arts systems in the world.  Traditional Shaolin was first brought to Canada in 2007 by Master Shi Guo Song.  Shaolin has survived today because of the filial system of master and disciple.

This year, October 31st, for Halloween at the Little Green Library, Daniel Pomminville has graciously offered his afternoon to bring you a presentation of just a small part of the Shaolin culture.  He will be demonstrating three events:  1.  Shaolin Bo Staff exercises, for stretching, breathing and overall health.  2.  Shaolin Eight Brocades Qigong, to develop the awareness, experience and understanding of the breath and qi energy moving in the body.  3.  Shaolin Meditation, the ultimate practice to reduce stress, for peace in the heart and stillness of the mind.

Please be advised that these are NOT classes but demonstrations only.  Spectators are encouraged and welcomed to join in if they wish.  Note that some of the movements may be difficult to achieve.  Be aware of your bodys limitations and do not go beyond any strain; we don't want any injuries.  What's important here is the process, with time and practice you can achieve the full movement.  Daniel will explain this during the movement and offer alternatives.
